What is WIA?

Workforce Investment ActWIA stands for Workforce Investment Act. Funds for this program come from the federal government to the State of Illinois for use in training and educational programs focusing on youth age 16 to 21. The goal of the WIA program is to recruit and entroll students with barriers to education, and then retain, graduate, and track them for two years.

The WIA Youth Coordinator works to remove barriers so the students can concentrate more on furthering their education. WIA also assists students with career counseling and career placement to continue to prepare them for today's workforce. A student who is eligible for WIA funds must complete an application and plan to succeed.

WIA's Obligation to the Student

Once a student is enrolled into the WIA Youth Program there is an obligation to that student. We are here to help youth succeed in there education and career placement. The funding will provide students with career counseling, career placement as well as GED preparation classes.

This program is conducted with funds from the Workforce Investment Board of Will County, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and the United States Department of Labor.

Equal Opportunity Employer /Program Auxiliary aids and services are available upon request to individuals with disabilities.
