Premier
Academy works with local universities to
provide counseling internships providing
valuable work experiences for students
pursuing graduate degrees. A certified
licensed counselor supervises the
program. Interns enjoy a variety
of experiences such as individual
counseling, groups sessions, guidance
sessions and crisis intervention.

Here are some comments from students who
have worked as interns at Premier:
| Premier
Academy's supervisors and staff
have provided me an opportunity
to learn numerous counseling practices
that are applicable to an
educational setting and beyond!
Each staff member has provided
personal insight into the
creation, development, and
implementation of their own
methods that have enhanced my
counseling
philosophy!

| My experience as a
practicum student at Premier
Academy was invaluable. The
teachers and staff provided
practical insight into the needs
of the students and were a
constant well of support and
encouragement. The students
were open to working in different
therapeutic modalities and
continued to be not only forgiving
of my inexperience but patient as
they showed me what their
particular needs are. I
believe that the training I
received at Premier provided me
with a solid background to be a
competent clinical practitioner
and also gave me a deeper
understanding of the importance of
collaboration between social
service organizations (i.e.
community health centers, outreach
programs, parent and teacher
groups, and the court system) to
better serve the needs of the
Joliet youth.

| Premier
was a life changing experience for
me. My internship at Premier
was my first opportunity at trying
to make a difference for
others. I had no idea the
positive impact working with these
kids would have on my life.
It's about making a difference
in the lives of young adults, but
truthfully, I think they taught me
more about myself in the year I
spent there than I have learned
over the course of my entire
life.
